How to Automate Your Content Curation Process with AI?

I used to spend so much time curating content.

Like, hours scrolling through Twitter threads, skimming newsletters, checking Google Alerts, and bookmarking blog posts. All just to share a few valuable links with my audience.

Don’t get me wrong, curation is powerful. It positions you as a go-to expert, keeps your content pipeline flowing, and helps you stay top-of-mind without always creating something new. But doing it manually? It’ll burn you out fast.

That’s why I finally automated my entire content curation process using AI. And honestly, I wish I’d done it sooner.

If you’re drowning in tabs or stuck staring at a blank buffer queue, this post is for you. Here’s how I’ve used AI tools to automate curation — without losing the human touch.

Step 1: Know What You’re Curating (And Why)

Before you even fire up the tools, you need clarity.

Ask yourself:

  • Who is your audience?

  • What topics are they trying to learn about?

  • What types of content resonate — articles, videos, tweets, stats, tools?

Once I got clear on that, my curation stopped being random. Instead of bookmarking everything tech-related, I focused on AI tools for creators — a niche I actually enjoy and understand.

This focus helps the AI do its job better, too. The more specific you are, the better your results.

Step 2: Use Feedly AI to Discover Content Automatically

Feedly has this feature called Leo — it’s like having your own research assistant.

You tell it what topics, keywords, or sources you care about, and Leo will sift through thousands of articles to surface the best stuff. It even learns what you save, ignore, or click.

Here’s how I use it:

  • I set up multiple “feeds” — like AI news, productivity tools, creator economy.

  • Leo flags content with certain criteria, like trending terms or content that’s gaining traction.

  • Every morning, I skim just one Feedly dashboard instead of 12 open tabs.

Step 3: Let ChatGPT Summarize & Repackage Articles

Once I’ve got a handful of links, I drop them into ChatGPT and say something like:

“Summarize this in 2 sentences for a newsletter blurb. Keep it casual and informative.”

ChatGPT saves me from re-reading every article and helps me create digestible summaries. I’ve even had it generate tweet threads or carousel captions based on the content.

It’s like hiring a content assistant… that works instantly and never needs coffee.

Step 4: Use Zapier or Make.com to Connect the Pieces

Here’s where the real automation kicks in.

Using Zapier (or Make, which is a bit more visual), I’ve built workflows that do stuff like:

  • When I save an article to Pocket or Notion, it auto-sends to my Feedly curation list.

  • Every week, that list gets compiled and emailed to me for quick review.

  • Approved content goes to Buffer or Hootsuite for scheduling.

You can even trigger workflows with keywords or tags. For example, if I tag an article “Friday roundup,” it gets added to my newsletter draft automatically.

No more copying and pasting across 3 platforms. Just smooth automation.

Step 5: Automate Scheduling with Buffer + AI Captions

Once I’ve got my content picked and summarized, I queue it up in Buffer.

But here’s the twist, I don’t write most of the captions anymore.

I use Canva Magic Write or Ocoya’s AI caption generator to create on-brand, engaging blurbs for LinkedIn, X, and Instagram. You can even set tone preferences like “witty,” “professional,” or “casual.” Game-changer.

With this workflow, I can schedule a week’s worth of curated content in under 30 minutes.

Bonus: Keep It Human

Look, automation is amazing. But curation still needs your voice. I always:

  • Add a quick note like “I loved this perspective — especially the part on X.”

  • Personalize intros for newsletters or roundup posts.

  • Occasionally throw in a “just for fun” article or meme.

People want content, yes — but they also want you. Your take. Your POV.

That’s what turns curation into connection.

Final Thought

Automating your content curation with AI doesn’t mean removing yourself from the process. It means giving yourself time back — time to think, write, or heck, relax.

With the right stack — Feedly + ChatGPT + Zapier + Buffer — you can build a curation engine that works behind the scenes, delivers consistent value, and still feels personal.

So stop doom-scrolling for your next shareable post. Let AI do the digging — and get back to running your business.
